The standard critical academic response to the central claims of Christianity is that the Jesus of history was not the Christ of faith.
In other words, the Christian faith is something that was made up by a later “Christian community” who had no real contact with the historical Jesus.
This means, to put it mildly, the the Christian religion is completely false. Jesus was never a divine being, he never claimed to be one, and those closest to him would never have thought that either.
But is this critical view true?
On the contrary, this criticism of orthodox Christian belief is full of holes and one can respond to this argument on a number of levels.
In this episode of Spiritual Combat, I’ll teach you one simple and often overlooked response that undermines this claim:http://classicaltheist.s3.amazonaws.com/Peter.mp3
