How To Be More Effective In Reaching Others With The Good News of Jesus Christ

If you are like many Christians, I am sure there has been a time where you have heard a charismatic minister preaching about the need to share the Gospel with others.

You probably left church all fired up, ready to spread the Good News like a modern-day Apostle Paul.

But then you FROZE right in your tracks.

Maybe you thought: “Hmmm, how am I supposed to do that again?”

Well, please don’t feel bad! The truth is, we have ALL been there.

Most of us are initially TERRIFIED with the idea of being laughed at or thought of as some sort of weirdo when we step out to share our faith.

We know what we should do, but out of fear we’ll start making any excuse we can not to go through with it. (Gee, I really should go and take that hot coal walking class I’ve been putting off!)

The good news is you are in some exceptionally good company.

Some of the greatest heroes of The Bible have been extremely reluctant about answering The Lord’s call.

Even Moses argued with God about being sent to Egypt to free the children of Israel from bondage, saying he wasn’t a good enough speaker.

Jonah actually ran away from God rather than preach to the people of Nineveh. That led to him temporarily being fish food.

Now, most likely The Lord doesn’t expect you to do anything as radical as freeing a whole nation from slavery.

Your mission could be as simple as showing His love to your friends and
family who haven’t yet experienced it.

For most of us though, even that can be quite intimidating.

But the good new is, there are many relatively easy ways you can start
sharing your faith with others right away.

Here are five of the best:

#1. Resist Being An Undercover Christian

Sadly, many people of faith live like “part-time” believers.

They might attend church on a regular basis, but unless you were there with them you would never know it.

Maybe there is a fear of coming off as prudish or any of the other stereotypes unfairly associated with church goers.

But this makes a GREAT opportunity to show that Christians aren’t a bunch of overly judgmental holy rollers like typically depicted by Hollywood.

Being a Christian doesn’t mean you are perfect or think you are better than anyone else. It just means you have recognized that you are a sinner and have accepted God’s free gift of salvation through Jesus Christ.

So, be PROUD! You don’t have to pound everyone you know over the head with your Bible, but even something like publicly saying grace before your meals will lead to others asking about your beliefs.

This will open the door wide open for you to share your faith in a completely non-threatening and no pressure manner.

Another excellent idea is to put the power of social media to work in helping you show how your faith is at the center of your life.

It seems like everyone is on at least one of the popular sites now (even my great-grandmother), so why not take a few minutes a week to post a favorite Bible verse, share Christian music videos, or even post the recordings of your church’s weekly services.

Again, these are just a few ways you can let the world know you’re a Christian that will naturally invite others to come to you, giving you a perfect opportunity to share your faith.

Now, let’s look as some other easy ways.

#2. Encourage Others With What God Has Done For You

Unfortunately, we all hear on an almost daily basis about someone we know who is going through some sort of trial or tribulation.

Depression seems to have permeated our society due to 24/7 news of heartache and despair.

As tough as this is, it also presents fantastic opportunity to share the HOPE and LOVE of Jesus Christ with those who need it the most.

So, when you hear of someone you know who is going through a tough time, reach out to them with some good old-fashioned encouragement. Maybe you can share some positive Bible verses which talk about God’s promises to be there for us. Or some personal experiences of how God has helped you to get through any rough patches in your life.

Even someone who wouldn’t typically be receptive to hearing about God will welcome your friendship and appreciate you being there for them.

After The Lord has hopefully brought them through their hardships, pray they will remember you (and more importantly God) were there for them.

You might be surprised to find them open to hearing more about your faith.

Romans 8:28 says: “We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to his purpose.”

This means God ultimately uses ALL situations for good when they involve those who love Him. Cling to this and trust The Lord to use even difficult situations to help you bring others to Him.

#3. Invite Someone To A Special Church Event

While many people will pass at the idea of going to “Church”, they might be more open to the idea of attending a concert or other event.

If your church has a special music group, speaker, play or performance it can be the perfect opportunity to invite someone to experience the loving and peaceful environment of your spiritual home.

Even just announcing these events on your social media with an open invite to anyone who would like to attend can be an excellent “non-threatening” way to cast the proverbial net out among your group of friends.

This is especially important to do during the Holidays which can be a particularly rough time for many people.

Unfortunately, while most of us think of the holidays as a time of food, family, lights, music and presents.

But for some it brings feelings of loneliness and despair.

So, when your Church is having special meals, concerts and plays, think of those you know who might be quietly suffering and could really be uplifted by your invitation to join you.

Oh, and you don’t have to wait to the holidays to invite someone to one of your church’s famous potluck or spaghetti and meatball dinners.

Let’s face it; church folk LOVE to eat!

In fact, there’s an old joke that goes something like: “What does it take to be a Christian? Belief in Jesus and a 9×13 casserole pan.”

Okay, I didn’t say it was a FUNNY joke.

But I’m sure you can think of someone who might be lonely and would be thrilled if you invited them the next time your Church was having a good old-fashioned food fest before or after the sermon.

These are just a couple of ideas. I’m sure you’ll notice opportunities pop up from now on that might be PERFECT to invite someone you know to.

You’ll find this one the easiest ways to share your faith!

#4. Live Your Faith

Okay, so this one isn’t necessarily easy, but it is IMMENSELY powerful. Living your faith simply means to strive to conduct yourself every day in as “Christ-Like” a manner as possible.

Now, this DOESN’T mean you need to try to be perfect. We are only human and as The Bible clearly states, ALL sinners.

But God does expect us to live differently as Christians. We should ALWAYS show compassion and empathy towards others while never saying or doing anything that brings them down.

We should be the living embodiment of The Golden Rule, which is “Treat others the way you would like to be treated.”

In plain English, don’t be a jerk.

Remember, Jesus NEVER shunned anyone.

He spent most of His time on Earth with those who would have been considered the outcasts of society, showing His love and mercy to people even His disciples thought he should avoid having contact with.

He gave dignity to those who had only known shame.

Imagine the difference you could make in the world by making a conscious effort to share a kind word or helping hand with someone who looked like they could use a friend.

Honestly, it doesn’t take much to make someone’s day a little brighter and you’ll not only be showing God’s love but it’s amazing how great you’ll feel inside as well.

#5. Arm Yourself With The Sword of The Spirit

Ephesians 6:11 says: “Put on the full armor of God that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.”

Later the same passage speaks of taking up the shield of faith and the sword of the spirit, which is the word of God (the Bible).

This is God Himself giving you the secret to successfully living and ministering to others in this lost world.

When you have faith in The Lord and immerse yourself in learning the word of God (the Bible) something really exciting starts to happen.

You become FEARLESS in sharing your faith.

All of the anxiety that has held you back slowly melts away as a more confident YOU begins to emerge.

Before you even realize it, you’ll be overflowing with the Holy Spirit speaking and acting through you.

Sharing your faith will become second nature as you allow God to completely and totally take over.

So, what the best option for sharpening your Sword of The Spirit?

Until recently if you wanted to get a truly excellent level of Christian education it meant enrolling in a Bible college or seminary.

These are great choices but can also be expensive and very time consuming. Most of us just don’t have the luxury of taking two to four years to study the Bible on a full-time basis.

Now, there is a FAST and AFFORDABLE alternative for anyone to gain a seminary level understanding of the most important areas of Scripture, which deal specifically with the deity of Jesus Christ.

You’ll discover the answers to some of the most difficult questions you’ll face from non believers, including:

  • Was Jesus a real historic person or just a myth?
  • Are we sure He was the Messiah prophesied in the Old Testament?
  • Do we have proof that Jesus really rose from the dead?
  • Isn’t Christianity the same as dozens of other religions?
  • Why do we need Jesus to be saved? Won’t everyone who lives a good
    life automatically go to heaven?

These are just a few of the subjects covered in this revolutionary new immersive learning experience called…
